A Vintage Christmas

Awhile ago I started a Christmas doily from a vintage pattern that my grandmother had. I'm really not sure how old it is, but probably late 40's, early 50's. All the crocheting was finished and I just have to finish sewing on the holly leaves and berries. I've been working on it the past few evenings and should have it finished soon. This year I would like to decorate using vintage type items.

Christmas Doily

Here is the pattern I used. If you click on it you can view it full size on flickr and I have also provided the parts that are in the creases.

HI Karen thanks for dropping by and visiting my blog. It has been so long since I have read a few blogs. So much happening with my Dad being so ill and my hubby's position at work was made redundant. Not so easy finding a job when you are 53yo.
What beautiful work you have done on that doily. Thanks for sharing your first snow with us - fabulous photo.

Karen---I just saw that you are posting again and I wanted to say I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I can't imagine what you must be going through. Especially at this time of year. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Karen,
I am so glad you stopped by for a visit. The doily is gorgeous. I don't crochet, well, I can make a really long chain, but that's about it. Your work is amazing.

Karen,

This is so very beautiful. I remember my Grandmother making these type things. I do so admire it....Blessings...m..

Your doily is so beautifully made. I have never seen such a doily over here. Here vintage crocheting is almost always in one color; whitish (actually no color at all). Have a nice day!

This is so pretty.
My mother use to have tons of doilies with color pansies around the edges.
She use to starch the petals so that they would stand just so.

I have been thinking about you, hope you are doing better…

Karen, this is so pretty. It looks complicated! I wish I could crochet. I've tried a few times, but I'm miserable at it. What a treasured keepsake this will be.

Thank you for the very kind comments that you've left for me. I appreciate it.
